The iconic polychromatic-tiled Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune) in central Beaune currently owns around 60 hectares which the majority are used for Pinot Noir production and the rest used for Chardonnay, in which around 85% are premier crus and grand crus. They have entrusted 22 winemakers to produce wines and sell their productions at an auction on every third Sunday of November with all proceeds being invested back into the hospital and to conserve the beautiful Hôtel Dieu. 
 
In 2022, the 162^nd wine auction of Hospices de Beaune achieved a record high of EUR29,788,500 for 820 barrels in an auction taken last month. And the “Pièce des Présidents”, which has been regarded as the most important barrel of the event and is a blended Corton Grand Cru from three vineyards in the famous appellation, hit record high at EUR810,000 for a 228-Litres barrel (to produce around 300 bottles of 750ml) which turns out to be EUR2,700 per 750ml without buyer commissions and other surcharges. 
 
Perhaps the back vintages are a nice spot to invest nowadays, especially when it is massively lower than the market prices nowadays.
