Nicolas Potel started out with a successful negotiant business in 1996 and has since been known to produce some of the most best-valued Burgundies. He developed an extensive sourcing network for high-quality grapes and the skills to produce fantastic Burgundies at excellent price tags. Due to financial hardship, he decided to sell his business to the Cottin brothers of Labouré-Roi in 2004 and continued to produce wines under the label until he set up a new label Roche de Bellene in 2008 to continue his magnificent business in Beaune. "Presumably Identical" to Ponsot: Domaine des Chezeaux 2018

With its origin dating back to 1928 when the Mercier family established itself in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine de Chezeaux owns nearly 60% of Griotte-Chambertin - the largest owner - and also Clos St-Denis, Chambertin as well as some parcels of Gevrey Premier Cru; however, the Domaine does not make any wines but instead the holdings are all farmed and produced by others, which is called a "en metayage" and those who "farm" the land are called the "metayers". Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret has a history dating back to 1620 but was only named "Mongeard-Mugneret" in 1945 after Eugene Mongeard and Edmee Mugneret married, and is currently managed by the 9th generation Vincent and Anne. They have vineyards of approximately 30 hectares in total, spread across 35 different appellations in which many are located in Vosne-Romanee including top terroirs Richebourg, Grands Echezeaux and Echezeaux Grand Crus. The Domaine's wines are traditionally concentrated, with rich mid-palates and intensity, and nowadays are more elegant with a mild influence of oak. Mentionedby Wine Advocate’s William Kelley earlier, that Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret are "some of the finest values to be found on the secondary market today,...
