Louis Roederer is one of the very top Champagne houses in the world, and their Cristal is one of the most highly sought prestige cuvees. The cuvee and the distinctive flat, clear lead crystal glass bottle design was first made in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes and safety needs of Tsar Alexander II. Produced only during the best years, when the Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot noir (around 60%) grapes have attained perfect maturity, it is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement, but the recipe is slightly changed...

Whilst we are all so familiar with the fabulous Cristal that Louis Roederer makes, the Champagne house has crafted two new wines that allows fine wine drinkers to discover another facet of their unique winemaking expertise - Camille Charmont (rouge) and Camille Volibarts (blanc), named after managing director & owner Frederic Rouzaud's great-grandmother whom he so admired.  The project started in 2002 when Roederer replaced the 0.43ha (1-acre) Charmont plot with Burgundy and Alsace clones of Pinot Noir, specially selected for still-wine making; and the first wines were crafted back in 2014 but their Chef de Cave Lécaillon was not...
