Founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin was originally from the Chablis region and settled in Beaune to set up his wine company. But it was in 1957, when Robert Drouhin, Joseph Drouhin's grandson, took over that the domaine started to gain its present dimension with its acquisition of many vineyards, and that they began doing away with pesticides and other chemicals and built a laboratory of enology run by Laurence Jobard, the very first woman enologist in Burgundy. Domaine Hudelot Noellat is widely appreciated as one of the top producers in Burgundy and one of our favourite domaines in Vosne-Romanée. Alain Hudelot-Noellat founded the domaine in 1962 and managed until 2007, then Alain’s grandson Charles van Canneyt took over the ruin and continues to put Hudelot Noellat in a higher stage. They own vineyards spread across Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Clos Vougeot and Nuits-St-Georges, including also the most famous Grand Crus Romanée-St-Vivant and Richebourg.
