Piper Heidsieck Rare is a luxury, well-matured cuvée with a blend of mainly Chardonnay with some Pinot Noir in a beautifully designed bottle. Only produced in the best vintages, it spends 12 years aging in the bottle before release. Due to its fantastic quality, limited production (much lower than other grand marques) and the gorgeous bottle design, it is widely popular around the globe so it is not always easily found in the market - very true to its name "Rare".

The latest release is Vintage 2008, which is considered to be the best vintage of the last decade. Piper Heidsieck Rare is not an exception and produced a top quality cuvee from the vintage, awarded 97pts from Wine Spectator and a massive 19.5 out of 20 pts from Bettane et Desseauve, this is an outstanding Champagne not to be missed -

Like a stallion out of the gate, this shows an initial explosion of power, in the form of mouthwatering flavors and fine texture, before quickly settling into an elegant gait. The racy acidity is seamlessly knit, buoying the lacy mousse and flavors of cassis, toasted brioche and tangerine, with accents of candied ginger, hazelnut and fleur de sel lingering on the long, creamy finish.
