A Perfect Score Champagne, 2006 Deutz Cuvee William from HK$900 per Bt
Deutz is a Champagne house with German origins, founded in 1838 by two Prussian immigrants, William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. Acquired by Louis Roederer in 1993, the house now owns 42 hectares of vineyard and has an extensive sourcing network for grapes. With the financial assistance from the Roederer powerhouse, Deutz has become one of the largest Champagne houses nowadays. According to Champagne specialist and writer Tom Stevenson, the house's style is "firm, flavor-packed yet full of character”. Apart from the Amour de Deutz, the William Deutz is a vintage cuvee which combines the energy of Pinot Noir and stands out the most for its powerful and distinctive character. It’s a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which Pinot Noir takes majority and expresses the purest Deutz style.
