Historically the Gros family has magical holdings in Vosne-Romanee and Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur has improved progressively since Bernard Gros took over the management in 1984. Nowadays it is one of the most beautiful domaines in Vosne-Romanee situated near Richebourg, with Domaine Jean Grivot, Domaine Meo Camuzet and Michel Gros being very close neighbors.

Wines from Gros Frere et Soeur are usually full-bodied and have significant layers of oak influence. The Grand Crus are aged in 100% new oak which are usually powerful and impart aromatic, concentrated and dense fruit elements. Gros Frere et Soeur enjoys beautiful holdings in four Grand Crus – Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Grands Echezeaux and Echezeaux - in which we found Richebourg to be in an excellent position to buy as it remains one of the cheapest Richebourg to secure at the moment. Besides their Richebourg production, their Clos de Vougeot should also not be overlooked. It carries the name “Musigni” because it comes from a lieu-dit on the top of Clos de Vougeot directly across from Le Musigny Grand Cru.

Vintage 2020 is a successful year in Burgundy especially the reds, Gros Frere et Soeur performed well among the line-ups which one of the highlighted Grand Cru is Echezeaux. Putting it side-by-side with the domaine’s flagship Richebourg Grand Cru, the qualities are very close and the Echezeaux Grand Cru costs less than 30% of the price, making it to be one of the best buys nowadays -
