Taittinger's history dates back as far as 1734, and was first named Forest-Fourneaux when it was owned by a wealthy textile merchant named Jacques Fourneaux. It was in 1932 when it was acquired by Pierre Taittinger that the Champagne house was renamed to the familiar name we all know today.
