Founded by Robert Groffier’s father, Jules in the 1950s, the Robert Groffier Pere et Fils is based in Morey-St-Denis and is now run by Robert’s grandson, Nicolas. They own a large plot in Chambolle-Musigny and in fact they are the largest owner of Les Amoureuses. The Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers is one their flagship parcels, located just a few meters below Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru and is often the most surprising wine in blind tastings. Having worked in his father’s vineyard since 1991, Denis Mortet set up his domaine under his own name and quickly made a name for himself as he was a perfectionist who put a lot of care and effort from vines to wines. The wines he produced were some of the most charming and elegant styles in Gevrey-Chambertin.
