The iconic polychromatic-tiled Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune) in central Beaune currently owns around 60 hectares which the majority are used for Pinot Noir production and the rest used for Chardonnay, in which around 85% are premier crus and grand crus. They have entrusted 22 winemakers to produce wines and sell their productions at an auction on every third Sunday of November with all proceeds being invested back into the hospital and to conserve the beautiful Hôtel Dieu.
