The "Liger-Belair" in Italy, World Lowest Now: Stella di Campalto Brunello di Montalcino 2010

We have been a long-time follower of Stella di Campalto's wines as they offer lots of similarities with Burgundy Pinot's and they are amongst the most elegant Brunello di Montalcino in our minds. Stella di Campalto's winery, Podere San Giuseppe, has a history dating back to 1910. It fell into abadonment during WWII and her family purchased the estate in 1992 and resuscitated the property, and since then, Stella di Campalto has been overseeing the viticulture and winemaking there. She began practicing organic farming in 1996 and then biodynamic farming as well in 2002.

Located in the southeast of the appellation in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, all their vineyards are among the top Brunello vineyards and all sit between 900-1000 feet above sea level, generally facing south, thus offering the perfect nurturing grounds to produce some of the most natural fruit, which are then very gently treated in the cellar to retain the individual vintage characteristics of the wines. All wines are bottled by hand and Stella often releases her wines much later than other producers of the same - usually at least one year after. Her wines are often commented to be unique among the wines of the appellation in which they usually have a delicate, aromatic quality that is not often found in Brunello.

Today we are pleased to bring to you a small parcel of Stella di Campalto's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2010. From an extraordinary vintage in Brunello di Montalcino, this is some of the rarest Brunello di Montalcino thus extremely hard to source, most especially for back vintage like this. Antonio Galloni who doubted that people would be unable to pick out Stella's wine from other top-notch Burgundies in a blind tasting when he tasted the Vintage 2008, said that "there is an ethereal, lifted, intensely perfumed quality to the 2008 that reminds me of Louis-Michel Liger-Belair's wines." Until 31st March 2024, we are delighted to offer a discount of this astonishing Brunello di Montalcino at HK$2,950 per bottle -

This wine will be released in October or November 2016. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a masculine expression from the wild and rustic quadrant of the Montalcino appellation where Stella has her beautiful vineyards. The bouquet delivers sheer power and determination with dark fruit followed by smoke and crushed mineral. Slightly shut down at first, the wine opens to a silky and polished texture once it starts to gain momentum. The finish is smooth and long.

Subject to final confirmation. Immediately available. Special discount available until 31st March 2024 (Sunday)
