Recently Arrived: Vincent Dancer Meursault Les Corbins 2018

Having grown up in Alsace with a passion for wine and photography, Vincent Dancer was originally studying to become an engineer, but after spending some time in Burgundy, he decided to settle in Chassagne-Montrachet and make wine from his family-owned vineyards. Only 5 hectares which is relatively small even by Burgundy standards, the vineyards are very well-situated. Vincent took over the domaine in 1996 and bottled his very first vintage in 2003 and was the first producer in Chassagne to become certified organic. Despite being rather low-key, Vincent's wines have become well known to restaurateurs and wine-lovers in the region over the years, known to truly reflect the characteristics of each terroir and being very unique in his own way. In recent years, the reins have been passed to Vincent's son Theo Dancer, who is an emerging young talent who have applied influential ideas and techniques to the domaine.

The 2018 Meursault Les Corbins wafts from the glass with notes of pear, green apple and peach mingled with oatmeal and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, with a lively spine of acidity, fine concentration and a mineral finish.

Ripe aromas include those of citrus peel, hazelnut and a mix of mostly white-fleshed fruit. The very rich, even opulent, forward and round flavors possess excellent mid-palate volume while exhibiting solid length on the citrus-tinged finish. This isn't racy but it is refreshing in its fashion.
