🤩RARE: Domaine Jean Marshall Assortment Case

Burgundy sees the emergence of many new domaines each year, yet Jean Marshall of Nuits-Saint-Georges is undoubtedly one of the most exciting rising stars in recent times. The current proprietor, Jean Marshall, is the son of Tim Marshall, who was born in the United Kingdom and moved to Burgundy in 1962. Starting from nothing, Tim patiently sought out vineyard parcels and gradually built this refined estate.

Tragically, in the early 21st century, Tim fell seriously ill due to prolonged exposure to chemical treatments in the vineyards and passed away in 2015. At that time, Jean was still too young to take over the domaine, and the vineyards were leased to the renowned Burgundy producer Méo-Camuzet for nearly 20 years. It was not until the lease ended in 2022 that Jean decisively reclaimed the vineyards, embarking on a new chapter guided by organic farming principles.

Jean Marshall now oversees 2 hectares of vineyards, including several high-quality Premier Cru sites such as Les Cras and Les Feusselottes in Chambolle-Musigny, as well as Aux Argillas and Les Perrières in Nuits-Saint-Georges. In viticulture, he draws inspiration from Lalou Bize-Leroy and Charles Lachaux, investing significant effort into respecting the role of the vine within the broader vineyard ecosystem. Techniques include high trellising and comprehensive soil work, creating optimal conditions for producing wines of great potential.

In the cellar, fermentation is carried out with 100% whole clusters using indigenous yeasts, with relatively short maceration periods. The wines are then aged in ceramic vessels, eliminating the influence of oak. The domaine uses ceramic containers from Clayver and similar producers, which are specially fired to achieve an extremely low oxygen transmission rate—only one-half to one-quarter that of traditional French oak barrels. Wines aged in these vessels exhibit brighter acidity and convey the terroir’s minerality and fruit expression with remarkable clarity, resulting in a style that is restrained, pure, and precise.

We are delighted to offer a rare assortment case from Domaine Jean Marshall, which comprises one white and five reds. Extremely difficult to find due to the miniscale production -
