Jacques Seysses has made an exceptional achievement by taking only about half a century to turn Domaine Dujac into one of the most outstanding domaines in Burgundy. He set up Domaine Dujac in 1967 when he purchased a small domaine in Morey-St-Denis, which the domaine has since expanded and nowadays covers around 15 hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vosne-Romanee. The Domaine was a pioneer to include stems during fermentation and most of the vineyards are farmed using organic practices. In recent years the style of their wines has become deeper in color, fruit-forward with charming and intense fragrance as well as velvety silkiness. Till this day, the Domaine is still managed by the Seysses family by Jacques's eldest son Jeremy and wife Diana.
Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanee Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru is an unique wine in that Aux Malconsorts is blended with their tiny parcel in Les Gaudichots which borders La Tache Grand Cru, and they put all the grapes from Gaudichots into their Aux Malconsorts; and in terms of prices and quality, Dujac's Aux Malconsorts is in a great position compared with a few Grand Crus -

An intensely spicy nose features notes of ripe black pinot fruit and plenty of floral influence in the form of violet and lavender scents. As would be expected this possesses plenty of size and weight with excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a powerful, palate coating and wonderfully long finish. This is a serious wine that will need at least 10 to 12 years to be approachable.

The 2011 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts is mid-weight, gracious and absolutey impeccable in its balance. Sweet tobacco, mint, red stone fruits, dried cherries and orange peel are some of the notes that inform the Malconsorts. Pliant and expressive on the palate, with highly expressive floral overtones, the Malconsorts is a gorgeous wine in 2011 and just as impressive at it was from barrel.
