A mystical life in winemaking since 1977, Philippe Charlopin inherited a tiny 1.5-hectare vineyard from his family now expanded to 25 hectares. The estate is managed together by Philippe Charlopin and his son Yann Charlopin in recent years and is one of the sharpest father-and-son businesses in Bourgogne!
 
Under the influence of Henri Jayer, Philippe Charlopin started to destemmed his fruits and later he decreased the influence of new oak in the 1990s and put more emphasis in the ripeness of fruits. Despite its modest plain labels, Philippe Charlopin-Parizot’s wines are geared up with energy and complexity, which undoubtedly is one of the best values producers to follow.
 
Unfortunately, given the quality of Vintage 2021, Philippe Charlopin decided not to produce the wines as usual, sold some of his grapes and kept the best to produce only two cuvees: Bourgogne Cote d’Or Premiere Cuvee and Bourgogne Cote d’Or Tete de Cuvee. Bourgogne Cote d’Or Premiere Cuvee is a blend of all grapes from village appellations and Gevrey Chambertin Bel-Air 1er Cru; while Bourgogne Cote d’Or Tete de Cuvee is made from the remaining 1er and Grand Cru grapes.
