Located in Premeaux near Nuits-St-Georges, Jean-Jacques Confuron covers eight hectares and has been farmed organically since 1991. The domaine benefits from a high proportion of old vines, especially the village Chambolle and the Romanée St-Vivant which were planted in 1929. The grapes are destalked and given a shortish fermentation with punching down, to avoid the air contact of pumping over. Barrels are sourced from Rémond and Rousseau, with 50-75% new wood being used in general and 100% on the grands crus.
One of their prized and most popular productions is the Romanee-St-Vivant in which they are the fifth-largest owner of this appellation with 0.4982 ha. The holdings include two plots located in the northern part of the appellation, between the almost-equally large holdings of Hudelot-Noëllat and Leroy. Their Romanee-St-Vivant is offers good value-for-money when you compare the prices against their close neighbors of the same wine e.g. Leroy and Noellat thus are highly demanded for those looking for Romanee-St-Vivant.
