The Prieur family started buying vineyards in the late 19th century, and with the financial help by the Labruyère family in later days, Domaine Jacques Prieur now enjoys a fantastic holding of Grand Crus such as Musigny, Montrachet, Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Beze, Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux and Corton; and they also own three monopoles in Volnay, Meursault and Beaune. Since joining the domaine in the late 1980s as the winemaker, Ms Nadine Gublin has successfully pushed up the quality with changing approaches such as using less chemicals in the vineyards and implementing much more careful selection of the grapes, making it one of the serious challengers to top-tier producers in Burgundy.
