Domaine Fourrier is managed by second generation Jean-Marie Fourrier, who took over the family estate in 1990 when he was only 23 years old but was already extremely experienced for his age. His experience came not only from his experience from working at his family domaine, but also from working with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanee in which he was a part of the creation of the epic 1988 vintage. He learned and followed Jayer's philosophy in that the creation of the best wine starts in the vineyard, hence he has been meticulous in the cultivation of his vineyards, most especially for the old vines at Domaine Fourrier, and the domaine has been well-known for the elegance and rich fruits with immense purity in their wines.
 
The Domaine owns some of the very best plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, most being planted in the 20th century. Aside from the Domaine productions, Jean-Marie also produces a range of negociant wines, from various top-end Burgundy vineyards, and are labeled as "Jean-Marie Fourrier".
