With history going as far back as the end of the 19th Century (around 1880), Domaine Alain Michelot is currently managed by Alain Michelot and his daughter Elodie. The domaine owns around 8ha of vineyards covering 15 appellations, including Grand Cru Clos Vougeot, Morey St Denis and 9 of the finest vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges such as Les Cailles, Chaignots, Champs Perdrix, Forêts St-Georges, La Richemone, Les St-Georges and Vaucrains, and then with village and premier crus in Morey-Saint-Denis.
They work with a short cool pre-fermentation maceration before destemming and vinifying, then left in the barrel for 20 months without racking and around 30% of new wood is used. Their wines perform nicely on their forthcoming fruit and ripe, along with the fine tannins from recent vintages (such as 2015), meaning that they are nice to enjoy in different stages of development.
