Special Case Offer on Louis Roederer Cristal 2008 at Just HK$2,090/Bt! Only Until Fri, 12 Nov
Being one of the very top Champagne houses, Louis Roederer's Cristal is highly demanded around the world. The cuvee and its distinctive flat, clear lead crystal glass bottle design was first made in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes and safety needs of Tsar Alexander II. Produced only during the best years, when the Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot noir (around 60%) grapes have attained perfect maturity, it is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement. Depending on the growing conditions in each year, the cellar master will slightly change his secret recipe as a cooler year may favor Pinot Noir while a warmer year will favor Chardonnay. Every release offers a powerful and multi-dimensional Champagne that amazes every drinker's senses; therefore, we are always keen to stock up on Cristals whenever the price is right.
Disgorged in September 2017 with 7.5 grams per liter dosage, the 2008 Cristal was produced from 37 of the 45 parcels that are candidates for inclusion in this cuvée—some 40% of which were farmed organically back in 2008—and it's a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The finest young Cristal in decades, the wine wafts from the glass with a pure and vibrant bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, clear honey, warm brioche, citrus zest and white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, intense and incisive, with superb concentration, racy acids and a long, searingly chalky finish. Pristinely balanced, there are some 500,000 bottles of this legend-in-the-making. (3/2020)
98pts Wine Enthusiast
The latest incarnation of Roederer’s iconic Champagne, this comes from a great vintage and is balanced, moving towards maturity. White stone fruit are shot through by lemon acidity. A steely edge contrasts with the underlying richness. Drink now, although the wine will age for many years. (12/2019)
97pts Wine Spectator
There's a sense of focus and vibrancy to the overall structure, while the palate is all grace and charm. A fine, lacy texture carries a tapestry of ripe white cherry, toast point, blood orange zest, honey and ground ginger notes, with a minerally, mouthwatering finish. A stunning Champagne with a long future ahead of it. (11/2018)

Deep golden straw. Surprisingly reticent nose but massive spread on the palate. Masses of acidity. Not as obviously appealing as the 2012 but it grows towards the peacock’s tail end. Then it really opened out in the glass, promising a long life and even greater complexity. (6/2019)
