The Marchesi di Barolo estate has a history dating back to 1929 and encompasses approximately 430 acres of vineyards in the Langhe, some of the finest in Piedmont, including the prestigious Cannubi cru. The cellars are located in the village of Barolo, overlooking the Renaissance castle of the Marchesi Falletti di Barolo.

Marchesi di Barolo was one of the founders of the Barolo category as Marchese Carlo Tancredit Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia made Barolo first in the early 19th century, and which the wine from their estate soon became known as “the wine from Barolo”, served at important diplomatic and royal functions. In 1929, local winemaker Pietro Abbona purchased the cellars and eventually acquired all their vineyard holdings as well, and remains a family business to this day, continuing the work that began more than two centuries ago: producing high quality wines in this important cellar where modernity and tradition meet and where a great heritage of vineyards and knowledge has been passed down from parents to children for over five generations. Since 2006, the estate has been under the direction of Pietro’s great-grandson and fifth-generation winemaker, Ernesto Abbona and his wife Anna, who have inherited a longstanding winemaking tradition and a love of the vineyards and its wines.

Today we are pleased to bring to you their aged 1964 Barbaresco at special offers starting from just HK$580 per bottle. 1964 is a fantastic vintage of Piedmont’s Barbaresco, rated 96pts by Antonio Galloni, he describes the vintage as “a rare vintage that produced both high quantity and quality, 1964 is one of the finest vintages of the 1960s. The 1964s are now fully mature, but they are wines that speak to finesse and balance more so than power, as one tends to find in 1961, and, to a lesser extent, 1967.”
