🌟New Releases from Romain Henin, Le Gamin du Terroir & Meunier Tu Dors

A small, artisanal grower based in the historic village of Aÿ in the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Romain Hénin embodies the new generation of independent Champagne vignerons. Founded by Pascal Hénin, the estate is now led by his son Romain, who took over the vineyards and winemaking in 2021.

Drawing inspiration from his time alongside acclaimed producers such as Sébastien Mouzon and Henri Giraud, Romain brings a fresh, thoughtful approach rooted in respect for nature and place. He has guided the domaine from organic to biodynamic farming, working without additives or sulfur to capture the purest expression of Champagne’s terroirs. The result is a collection of wines defined by structure, energy, and a true sense of identity — vivid reflections of the Aÿ terroir.

Romain Hénin Le Gamin du Terroir NV

The flagship cuvée of the estate, Le Gamin du Terroir is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay, drawn from old vines on the steep, chalk-rich slopes of Aÿ and neighboring Premier Cru parcels. The Pinots lend depth and fruit, while Chardonnay adds lift and precision. Aged on lees without stirring and bottled without filtration or dosage, this Champagne opens with bright notes of citrus peel, white flowers, and green apple, evolving into layers of brioche and a delicate saline minerality. The mousse is fine and elegant, carrying through to a persistent, chalky finish.

Romain Hénin Meunier Tu Dors NV

Named after a traditional French nursery rhyme, this singular cuvée — Meunier Tu Dors 2022 — will never be produced again. It also marks Romain’s first zero-dosage release under his new label, La Bulle Libre (“The Free Bubble”). Sourced from 50-year-old Meunier vines rooted deep in the limestone hills of Aÿ, it spent one year on lees to develop remarkable texture and complexity. The nose reveals ripe yellow plum, quince paste, brioche, and a subtle chalky smokiness. On the palate, it’s vibrant and pure, finishing with zesty lemon and a fine, saline mineral thread — a beautiful tribute to the finesse of Meunier.
