Revisiting Cristal 2006 - Excellent Performance Today
Champagne Louis Roederer Cristal 2006 is a prestigious vintage champagne that epitomizes luxury and refinement. Created by the renowned Champagne house Louis Roederer, which was established in 1776, Cristal was initially crafted in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. This vintage is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from the finest Grand Cru vineyards in the Champagne region, specifically from the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley, and the Côte des Blancs.
Last week we sampled a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal 2006 and found it has stepped into an excellent development curve. Its luminous with intense fragrant, the palate is concentrated with a sharp and long finishes. It’s a classic Cristal which started its second life vividly.

Broad, ample and resonant on the palate, the 2006 Cristal dazzles with its pure richness and volume. Readers need to give the 2006 another 4-5 years in bottle, perhaps longer, as the wine appears to be shutting down a bit. Tasted next to the 2002, today the 2006 is a bit less opulent but just as intense, layered and deep. This is a fabulous showing.
