Domaine Nowack is a family estate in Vandières, in Champagne’s Vallée de la Marne, founded in 1795 by Jean Baptiste Nowack from Bohemia. Today the seventh generation, Flavien Nowack, runs the domaine with his father Frédéric. He farms naturally, ferments with native yeasts in old barrels and avoids filtration, crafting precise, terroir driven grower Champagne. Critic Peter Liem has named him one of the most promising young growers in the region.
 
S.A. (Sans Année) is the domaine’s signature blend of 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Chardonnay, with 40% reserve wines dating back to 2012. Fermented in oak, aged 24 months on the lees and finished with only 1 g/L of dosage. Yesterday, we have opened a bottle and were amazed by the dense structure and complexity of the wine. Tasting Notes:
Bready, buttery, fresh apple, bright and focused with a dry but not severe palate. Body is relatively light but the oak adds good spice. An interesting combination with good balance and classic styling – Richard Hemming MW
