One of the leading natural and biodynamic producers nowadays, Yann Durieux is a rising star who vinified his very first vintage at the mere age of 13. He was determined to establish his winemaking career in Burgundy and was trained at Julien Guillot (Domaine du Vigne de Maines) then furthered his experience at Domaine Prieuré-Roch, which he stayed for over 10 years before setting up his own winery in 2010.
His domaine was the revival of his family's winery and vineyards - the Recrue des Sens family - which is a small area of just 3 hectares up the hills of Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, with DRC as its neighbour, and the age of vines averaging 50 years old. His philosophy is to produce wines as naturally as possible - practicing the principles of organic agriculture and zero-use of chemicals; using whole bunches, natural yeasts and no sulphur. Despite his young age, his passion, detailed-mindedness and perfectionist approach has led to the creation of some of the most elegant, fresh and pure wines that many fans of Leroy, Prieure Roch, Leflaive and such would appreciate.
Tête de Ponts comes from a parcel located near the Abbaye de Saint-Vivant in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. The uniqueness of Tête de Ponts is that its aged exclusively in 100% new oak barrels for two years, making it distinct from other wines in the "Ponts" series, which typically avoid new oak to preserve purity. Tête de Ponts is robust and structured, showcasing a balance between the richness imparted by new oak and the finesse of Pinot Noir.
