RARE: Ex-Domaine Vosne-Romanee Aux Reignots from 2002

As an extraordinary Premier Cru in Vosne-Romanee, Aux Reignots located in relatively high on the slope right above the historical “La Romanee”. The vineyard is only 1.62 ha and owned with a total of 10 owners on it including Domaine de Comte Liger-Belair (0.6959 ha), Domaine Sylvain Cathiard (0.2468ha), Domaine Arnoux Lachaux (0.1846 ha), Domaine de la Romanee Conti (0.036 ha, who leased to Domaine de Comte Liger-Belair), Domaine Jean Grivot (0.0746ha) and also a few owners who do not produce a single Aux Reignots wines nowadays.
 
Winehog’s Steen Öhman gave his view on Aux Reignots, he believes the wines “The wines are quite floral and mineral driven, compared to the wines from Malconsorts, thus also offering less weight and body” and “They do offer some of the mineralic power found in Les Gaudichots, but seem more floral and lightfooted, but they also have a hint of the austerity found in some Gaudichots bottlings”.
 
Domaine Pernin-Rossin was established by André Pernin who started out as an agricultural laborer who later engaged in winemaking in the late 1970s. With a traditional approach but with forward-thinking such as objection of over chaptalization which is permitted in the old days as this will hide the expression of terroir, André Pernin produced classic Burgundies which represent an unforgettable era in the 80s and 90s (Domaine Pernin-Rossin was acquired by Domaine Perrot-Minot in 2000).
