Crystallum is a family-run estate whose commitment to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay has helped elevate the cool-climate reputation of South Africa’s Hemel-en-Aarde region. Founded in 2007 by the Finlayson brothers, Peter-Allan and Andrew, the winery blends heritage and vision, drawing from a legacy of winemaking that prizes authenticity, restraint, and the subtle interplay between terroir and grape. Their approach is markedly Burgundian, but with a distinctly South African nuance—fruit is sourced from select maritime vineyards on clay and shale soils, and vinified using native yeasts, minimal intervention, and careful barrel aging. Each bottle radiates the singular character of place: fresh Atlantic breezes and slow ripening seasons yield wines of both precision and complexity, expressing remarkable fluidity across vintages and vineyard sites.
