"One of the Best Pinot Noirs Outside Côte d'Or" - John Thomas Dundee Hills 2013/2014/2017

While we often put our focus on the beautiful Pinot Noirs from Burgundy, we are pleased to present to you a gem from the Willamette Valley in Oregon - John Thomas Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. John Thomas first planted the vineyard in 1984 and has been making compelling Pinot Noirs over 30 years. Critics have been singing their praises in which Neal Martin had said that even experienced palates took a few minutes “trying to fathom which Roumier or DRC it might be" during a blind tasting dinner back in 2015 for the 2011 John Thomas Dundee Hills 2011 and Neal even claimed that it is "one of the best Pinot Noirs outside the Côte d'Or that I have tasted”. Josh Reynolds also commented that John Thomas is counted as "one of their favourite New World sources for Pinot Noir".

With only 400 cases produced annually, with its style and quality, it is very hard to find in the market. We are pleased to offer a very limited availability today for your consideration -

Neal Martin’s full write-up of the 2011 John Thomas Dundee Hills Pinot Noir on erobertparker.com:
Invited to a mouth-watering dinner at Spring restaurant in London with various oenophile friends, it comes to my attention that I have nothing that ranks alongside the assorted Roumiers and DRC's that will be generously proffered. What do you do? I have bought a bottle of Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2011 from John Thomas in Oregon, a wine that is probably harder to find in Europe than those aforementioned Roumiers and DRC's, but at a fraction of the price. I served it blind because I was convinced that such is its style and quality, it could fool even the experienced palates around the table, including my own I might add. Sure enough, after a few minutes of trying to fathom which Roumier or DRC it might be, I delivered the line: "It's from Oregon" and revealed the grower and perhaps changed a few perceptions at the same time. John requested that I do not review his wine and that's no problem for me. Though I hope he doesn't mind me saying that it is one of the best Pinot Noirs outside the Côte d'Or that I have tasted.” (Dec 2015)
