An old and outstanding Domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin with over 400 years of history in viticulture and wine making, Bernard Dugat Py has been producing long aged wines with their “vieilles vignes”. Dugat Py consists of 10 hectares of vineyards including four Grands Crus - Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin. Their Grand Crus are some of the top in Gevrey with a range of wonderful value 1er Cru as well as village wines. Made from extremely old vines with average 65 years old and some reached its 90s, their wines are deeply coloured, rich, full-bodied and elegant, being a paragon of the prestige of Burgundy. The Domaine is now run by its 12th and 13th generations, Bernard Dugat-Py, wife Joscelyne and son Loîc, who inherited Dugat family’s four centuries of experience and leading Dugat-Py to new heights.

The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, from vines ranging from 30-50 years of age, shows superb length in a mid-weight, mineral-driven style. With time in the glass the silkiness of the tannins emerges as the wine takes shape. Elegant and refined throughout, the Vieilles Vignes possesses captivating balance and a great sense of harmony. This is a beautiful wine from Dugat-Py, but it needs time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028.
