A stable performer in Meursault village which still retains their “price-worthy” position nowadays, Domaine Buisson-Charles has attracted so much attention from Burgundy lovers who look for budget Burgundy over the years. Michel Buisson, with his wife in close attendance, was the third generation at this domaine and since 2009, the reins have been passed down to his daughter Catherine and son-in-law Patrick Essa. The domaine extends to 6 ha of vines, many of them old - some parcels of villages Meursault vines are over 100 years old - and are worked organically though not certified to allow the flexibility to switch to conventional treatments in a disastrous year. Most of their holdings are in Meursault with some in Pommard and Volnay. The wines spend 12 months in oak, with just enough new wood to complement the fruit. The resulting wines are incredibly concentrated and can age remarkably well which aligns with what Allen Meadows had said about their wines, saying that they are "clean, bright with excellent transparency as well as aging potential”.
Despite the excellent qualities of wines produced here, Patrick has no aspirations to make 'trophy pricing' so you can imagine that their wines are often sold out.
