Domaine Ponsot is one of the producers we always keep at the top of our list. Their wines have never failed to impress us, plus their continuous efforts in developing innovations in bottling and packaging to maintain the conditions of their wines and protect themselves from counterfeit wines, such as their provenance tracker, thermo indicator and "the ideal cork", have made us even more impressed with the Domaine over the years. Laurent Ponsot, the 4th generation at Domaine Ponsot, has continued to lead the Domaine to produce brilliant wines from village to Grand Cru wines, and has developed a remarkable, unique style that clearly differentiates itself from other top producers in Gevrey-Chambertin. After his departure, the domaine is still run by the family and produces extraordinary reds and whites year after year.

A magnificently complex nose offers up a mix of both high and medium-toned aromas of mostly red berries but with a panoply of background nuances including leather, tea, underbrush, spice hints, jerky and smoke, most of which transfer to the textured, intense and precise full-bodied flavors that are, somewhat surprisingly, not quite as dense as those of the Clos St. Denis but actually finer (normally it's the reverse), all wrapped in a hugely long and explosive finish that completely coats the palate with extract, indeed so much of it that this does not seem all that structured yet it will clearly need at least 15 years to be at its best.
