Below Market: A Well-Priced Case from Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée "Les Beaux Monts"

Praised to be "the greatest estate in Burgundy" and "stands virtually alone at the top of Burgundy's quality hierarchy" by Clive Coates MW and Robert Parker respectively, Madame Lalou-Bize Leroy's creations are some of the most sought-after Burgundies around the world. With her experience, taste and perfectionist approach in the vineyard and in the whole winemaking process, one could never go wrong with a bottle of Leroy.

The estate creates a range of remarkably incredible wines across their owned vineyards (labelled "Domaine Leroy") and sourced grapes (labelled "Maison Leroy") year after year. While they produce both reds and whites, the Domaine-produced whites only appear under d'Auvenay or only for their Aligote. Other whites are produced under Maison Leroy but are just as good as their Domaine wines as Madame Leroy only chooses the best vineyards and grapes in disregard of cost. Production is minuscule across the board and due to its global popularity, her wines are generally hard to source, let alone back vintages.

We are thrilled to offer a pristine case of Vosne-Romanée "Les Beaux Monts" 1er Cru 2011, which has received a stunning 95pts from Allen Meadows. A fantastic investment opportunity which is a real counterpart with the Grand Cru, there is only one case available so please let us know if you are interested on it -

HK$27,800 per bottle OR HK$82,500 per case of OWC3*75cl

95pts Allen Meadows
While the increments to which I refer are small they are nonetheless noticeable as this is aromatically slightly fresher, more elegant and more complex all at once. The highly expressive nose is gorgeously layered, spicy and cool with its ultra-pure dark pinot fruit, plum, cassis and wet stone scents. The medium weight flavors are impressively rich but there is a palpable sense of underlying tension and energy that make this a pleasure to taste. Moreover the borderline pungent minerality adds more lift, particularly on the overtly austere, linear, focused and hugely persistent finish. As good as the Brûlées is, and make no mistake it is terrific, this just offers another level of class and refinement.

Subject to final confirmation. ETA 2-3 weeks.
