Emmanuel Rouget was a tractor engineer by training before being approached by his uncle, the legendary Burgundy producer Henri Jayer who was one of the most influential winemakers during his time. Emmanuel received a lot of care and apprenticeship from his uncle and has made a name for himself in the world of Burgundy nowadays.
 
Emmanuel found his love for wine in 1976, and decided to shadow his uncle in the vineyard, perfectly inheriting the knowledge and skills on careful management of vines and lots of other precious skills in wine production, for example, working with extremely low yields, pre-fermentation cold maceration and applying the best oak barrels to the wine with very selective judgment. By the mid-1980s, Emmanuel Rouget started to take over Henri’s work and nowadays manages the best vineyards such as Richebourg and Cros Parantoux.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Village has a flattering bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberries and touches of blueberry, floral scents emerging with time. Quite opulent. The palate is smooth on the entry, with succulent and pliant tannins, sorbet-fresh with a lush, velvety finish that slips down the throat. Lovely.
