A bit of history and background for how Joseph Colin came about to producing his own label wines, his father Marc Colin was one of the honored white winemakers in St Aubin. Marc started his estate in 1970 and his productions spread across St-Aubin, Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet. He also had a solid holding in Le Montrachet. Marc has four children – Pierre-Yves, Joseph, Damien and Caroline. The eldest son Pierre-Yves decided to work alone with his wife Carolin Morey and nowadays has become one of the most highly sought-after rising stars – Pierre Yves-Colin Morey, making excellent qualities St Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet year after year. While in 2005, Marc Colin's domaine was handed over to Joseph, Damien and Caroline in which Joseph has been taking a crucial role in the domaine in the past 13 years. In 2016, Joseph planned to start his own domaine and has become one of the most sought-after producers of white Burgundy.

A more deeply pitched nose features more deeply pitched aromas that are laced with soft pepper and earth nuances. The delicious, energetic and nicely detailed middle weight flavors are attractively textured if not especially complex on the pliant and balanced finish. This could easily be enjoyed young.

A whiff of matchstick can be found on the petrol, floral and white and yellow orchard fruit scents. The rich but racy medium weight flavors exhibit notably more minerality that adds a touch of lift to the sleek, intense and compact finish. In contrast to many of the preceding wines, this relatively backward effort will require at least a few years of cellaring to unwind.
