Joseph Drouhin was established back in 1880 which now owns ~60 hectares of vineyard in Bourgogne and has become a powerhouse in Beaune. They own some of the most renowned vineyards such as Beaune Clos des Mouches, Chambertin, Clos de Beze, Echezeaux, Musigny, etc. Quite the perfectionist, Joseph Drouhin produces beautiful reds and whites. Its house style captures the purity of fruits and reflects the terroir well with shorter aging period in oak and earlier bottling; specifically on whites, they are pure, offering complete cleanliness in the palate.

One of their most notable white productions is the Chassagne-Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche - an exclusive terroir passed to the Drouhin family to cultivate and distribute, owned by the Laguiche family. We are proud to offer a small parcel from the epic 2014 vintage which is regarded as the best vintage for the whites in Burgundy from 2000. This was awarded with 93pts from Neal Martin who described it as "retains commendable definition" and "Very fine".

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Drouhin's 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche has a crisp, vivacious bouquet with scents of Golden Delicious, white peach and subtle mineral scents. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, quite compact at this youthful stage with a waxy-textured, quite pithy finish that at least retains commendable definition. Very fine and it improved with aeration, therefore I would allow this another couple of years to develop.
