Joseph Roty has been making wines since 1710 and the production has remained minuscule for over 300 years. The Roty family maintains their very old vines in which some were planted in the 1880s and still use very traditional ways of winemaking to this day. Despite having a very low profile, their wines never fail to amaze everyone and can always show the characteristics of a traditional Gevrey-Chambertin. Their wines usually have high concentration and are full of dark fruits' purity, seamlessly integrated with their usual high usage of barrels. Clive Coates MW also commented that Roty's wines are "very distinctive. They are full, very intense, very perfumed and very harmonious. They are certainly immensely seductive.” 
 
Last week, we purchased a case of Vintage 2000 Joseph & Philippe Roty Gevrey-Chambertin which is just over 20 years old, it is now beautifully mature. It never disappoints and it is hard to find nowadays so is correspondingly an unmissable opportunity to consider.
