Although Chardonnay is the popular grape variety in Bourgogne, Charles Lachaux is affirmative with Aligoté and he decided to buy back the family’s fruits and bottle it under his own label. Among all of the Charles Lachaux wines, only the Aligoté belongs to Arnoux Lachaux’s vineyards and the others are purchased from growers who are carefully selected. Yields are miniscule, but what is made is very often the best of its type, meaning enormous demand which can never be met by the supply on the market.
