Since the foundation in 1843, Krug has had a longstanding reputation for the quality of its champagnes, most especially for its Vintage and Grand Cuvée productions, with a strong global following from wine connoisseurs and Champagne lovers. Richard Juhlin, the renowned Champagne writer, has always been a fan of Krug. He says that their Champagne "stands for artistry, tradition, craftsmanship and moments of pure pleasure" and "are small masterpieces… If the opportunity arises, never miss the chance to drink a Krug!”.

Among their range of Champagnes, Grande Cuvée is the archetype of Krug's philosophy of craftsmanship and savoir faire which is made from a blend of around 120 wines from ten or more different vintages, some of which may reach 15 years of age. The blending of so many vintages gives the Krug Grande Cuvée its unique fullness of flavours and aromas, its incredible generosity and its absolute elegance - something impossible to express with the wines of just a single year. Its exceptional finesse is the result of a stay of at least another six years in the cellars. Over twenty years are needed to craft each bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée: the first prestige cuvée re-created each year, beyond the very notion of vintage.

Yesterday, we were offered 12 bottles of old disgorged Krug Grande Cuvee and thought you might be interested - There is no Krug ID on the label with "flower pattern" which usually means they are disgorged between 2004 to 2011. However was marked disgorged 2006 in the case in which these bottles received further 17 years of bottle aging in professional wine cellar, giving it fantastic time to develop in a new stage with more complex structure and taste.
