A traditional and small domaine with just 5.5ha of vineyards, Jean Tardy owns a fascinating plot of Les Tres in Echezeaux Grand Cru, a comparatively premier plot adjacent to the Grand-Echezeaux, I find this is a fantastic option to consider today. The domaine is run by Guillaume Tardy nowadays and in Vintage 2005, he already worked with his father Jean Tardy and described the Vintage 2005 ” giving us grapes with superb maturity and perfect health”, which enables him to produce excellent and very high quality wines.
 
Putting Tardy’s Echezeaux with the legend producer Domaine de la Romanee Conti’s Echezeaux Grand Cru 2005, there is just a point in difference and Jean Tardy Echézeaux Les Tres Vieilles Vignes 2005 is massively cheap, making this is a no-brainer not to be missed if we find it’s available in the market.

Generous but not dominant wood influence frames the red berry and black raspberry liqueur nose that is followed by earthy, intense and chewy full-bodied flavors that are textured, concentrated and mouth coating, particularly on the robust and very firm finish that offers excellent length. This is a big wine of impressive dimensions if not necessarily much finesse as it's built like a linebacker and will require commensurate time. Drink: 2017+
