Same Score with PYCM at Just 17% of its Price: 2017 Héritiers Jadot Corton-Charlemagne

Maison Louis Jadot is one of the largest maisons in Bourgogne and owns over 60 hectares of vineyard, many of them Grand Cru and Premier Crus. Founded in 1859, the house ran in the family until it was passed to long-time manager Andre Gagey when the last male member in the family passed away. The maison was then subsequently purchased by Kobrand, the US importer of Jadot, and is now run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Jacques Lardière who has been responsible for the company’s wines since 1970.

Both reds and whites from the house offer impeccable quality and reflect each of the terroirs very well. Jacques Lardière takes on a minimal intervention approach in which he lets the wine run its own course after the grapes are chosen, and are raised in barrels with about a third of new oak used, or up to 50 percent in weaker vintages. For reds, they often show depth of fruit and complexity; and for white, there is a great balance between acidity and finesse.

From Jadot’s extensive line-up, the Corton-Charlemagne is the star. From vineyards owned by the inheritors of the Louis Jadot estate, the wine has all the power that is expected from Corton-Charlemagne. In 2017, this stunning Grand Cru received an outstanding 93-95pts from Wine Advocate’s William Kelley. Putting it head-to-head with the region’s eminent such as Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and Pierre Girardin, Jadot’s Corton-Charlemagne is simply outstanding in quality and price. Hence, we are delighted to offer:

93-95pts William Kelley
The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is excellent, displaying a lovely bouquet of lemon oil, white flowers, crushed chalk and a discrete touch of new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, tensile and tight-knit, with chewy structuring dry extract, tangy acids and a long, grippy finish. This is built for the cellar and will be well worth seeking out.

Subject to final confirmation. ETA 3-4 weeks.

Delivery is free-of-charge for single purchase above HK$3,000 or 6 bottles (or accumulated amount at time of delivery); otherwise, a standard delivery fee of HK$100 applies.
