Didier Dagueneau started his journey in wine from 1982 by acquiring his parcel of vineyard in Loire. The vineyards are located in Saint Landelin in the Nievre and Didier developed himself as a legendary winegrower in Loire valley. His mentor was Henri Jayer, in the vineyards the yields are kept extremely low, little amount of sulfur is applied and the wines are aged on lees for several months and are not racked to retain crystal-clear color. Also, he decided to age his Sauvignon Blanc in barrels which was uncommon at early age to add power and structure to the wine with great aging potential. Unfortunately, Dider Dagueneau died in 2008 in a flying accident at age 52 and the winery was passed to his son Louis-Benjamin who has already worked alongside with his father for several years. Nowadays in good hands of Louis-Benjamin, they continuously produce some of the best and unique Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
