Don’t miss! “Switzerland's Romanée Conti”: Weingut Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019
There is one name in Switzerland which has long been familiar to wine collectors – Gantenbein. The winery was founded by Martha and Daniel Gantenbein in which they started to plant vines from the land of Martha’s father in 1980. And nowadays, they still manage everything by themselves. There are only a tiny 6 hectares of vineyards, located in the village of Fläsch in the Bündner Herrschaft which is 500 meters above sea level on the slopes. Martha and Daniel started with only two grapes – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and later also started to plant and produce Riesling. Production is extremely low; there are only about 1,000 – 1,400 cases of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to be released to the market, and most of these are consumed in Switzerland. That makes Gantenbein a familiar name across the world but also one of the most difficult wines to source.
I am delighted to offer a small parcel of Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2019 today and it is a fantastic opportunity to explore an unfamiliar country which also produces outstanding Pinot Noir -
