Neighbouring La Tache: Domaine d'Eugenie Vosne-Romanee Clos d'Eugenie 2017
Domaine d'Eugenie was established in 2006 by Francois Pinault, who owns Chateau Latour in Bordeaux, and named the domaine after his grandmother. He aimed to create a top Burgundy domaine and hence decided to acquire vineyards from René Engel - one of the leading lights of Vosne-Romanée until the death of Philippe Engel in 2005 - and the Frantin Estate from Bichot in Nuits-St-Georges to produce the wines. The village vineyard Clos Frantin was included in the deal with Bichot and renamed to Clos d'Eugenie when they released the 2009 vintage. Under the management of President of Chateau Latour Frédéric Engerer and experienced winemaker Jean Claude Briottet, the recent wines of Eugénie are well-made with good purity and their style is improving from year to year.
We have a small parcel of Domaine d’Eugenie’s Vosne-Romanee Clos d’Eugenie 2017 arrived last week, a terroir that neighbours La Tache (see map below), and is wholly owned by d’Eugenie (who also owns Chateau Latour in Bordeaux & Clos des Tart in Morey-St-Denis with strong financial arm to make very high quality wines). It is only 0.57ha and only 1,000 to 2,000 bottles are produced here depending on the quality of each vintage. The first vintage was created in 2009 and qualities are guaranteed. With the limited production, it is very difficult to get in the market so don’t miss the chance to secure these now -
