Back Vintages Selection from Claude Dugat
Established in 1955 by Claude and Marie-Thérèse, Domaine Claude Dugat is a small family-run domaine and is widely considered one of the top producers in Gevrey-Chambertin. The domaine practises sustainable viticulture so they never use fertilisers or herbicides. They harvest grapes when they are just ripe, which is determined solely by taste instead of lab analysis, and thus creating wines that are fresh but also concentrated and intense thanks to the old-age vines. Upon harvesting, the grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented in concrete tanks with gentle punch downs for extraction. The wine is racked into a barrel and is aged in oak for at least 12 months, then bottled without fining or filtration. Among their range, their village Gevrey-Chambertin is alluring on the nose, which gives way to a rare mixture of intensity, depth and silkiness on the palate.
