The iconic polychromatic-tiled Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune) in central Beaune currently owns around 60 hectares which the majority are used for Pinot Noir production and the rest used for Chardonnay, in which around 85% are premier crus and grand crus. They have entrusted 22 winemakers to produce wines and sell their productions at their auction which offer great sentimental and financial value. The cuvee is named after Maurice Drouhin, the administrator of the Hospices de Beaune and the Vice-President of its administrative commission from 1941 to 1955, who also ran the Beaune négociant-éleveur Joseph Drouhin at the same time.
