The cuvee and its distinctive flat, clear lead crystal glass bottle design was first made in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes and safety needs of Tsar Alexander II. Produced only during the best years, when the Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot noir (around 60%) grapes have attained perfect maturity, it is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement. Depending on the growing conditions in each year, the cellar master will slightly change his secret recipe as a cooler year may favor Pinot Noir while a warmer year will favor Chardonnay. Every release offers a powerful and multi-dimensional Champagne that amazes every drinker's senses; therefore, we are always keen to stock up on Cristals whenever the price is right.
