Unlike many estates in Burgundy, de Vogüé has ancient architectural and viticultural origins, tracing its beginnings to the 15th century with ownership passing through 20 generations to the present proprietors; and the current label began with Comte Georges de Vogüé who took over in 1925. They own 7.25 hectares of the fabled Le Musigny vineyard which constitutes 80% of the whole site, 2.75 hectares of Bonnes-Mares and 1.8 hectares of Premier Cru Chambolle-Musigny. The vineyards are run more or less organically though they do not claim organic status. In the cellar, winemaking techniques are adapted to suit the year. In terms of oak usage, there is relatively light use of new wood: typically 15% for the village Chambolle and 35% for the grands crus, occasionally a little more.

Today we are pleased to present a small parcel of the Chambolle-Musigny village from the 2007 vintage. The village Chambolle is produced from vines in the southwest portion and includes some declassified 1er Crus Les Baudes and Fuées. This was remarked to be "outstanding" by Allen Meadows who commented that it has a "wonderfully pure and entirely classic nose of red pinot fruit". A wonderfully pure and entirely classic nose of red pinot fruit with blue berry and mineral hints that are picked up by the ripe, rich, detailed and extremely fresh middle weight flavors that are racy and energetic, supported by firm but ripe tannins and excellent length. This is a very calm and harmonious effort that is very Chambolle.
