Sylvain Cathiard was established in the 1930s under the name "Cathiard-Molenier" by Sylvain Cathiard's grandfather who had worked with Domaine de la Romanee Conti and Lamarche and had bought some vineyards in Burgundy. Ghislaine Barthod has a long history dating back to the 1920s when Ghislaine's father, Gaston Barthod married Marcel Noellat's daughter.
