Neighbouring La Tache, 2023 Domaine d'Eugenie Vosne-Romanee Clos d'Eugenie

Philippe Engel in 2005 - and the Frantin Estate from Bichot in Nuits-St-Georges to produce the wines. The village vineyard Clos Frantin was included in the deal with Bichot and renamed to Clos d'Eugenie when they released the 2009 vintage. Under the management of President of Chateau Latour Frédéric Engerer and experienced winemaker Jean Claude Briottet, the recent wines of Eugénie are well-made with good purity and their style is improving from year to year.

A tiny monopole (0.57 ha) owned by Domaine d'Eugenie, Vosne-Romanee Clos d’Eugenie is one of the jewels that under the radar as it neighbors La Tache (see map below),  they are very difficult to get in the market, and the production is small (Between 1,000 - 2,000 bottles per year). 40% whole bunch vinification. A bit in Clayver and the rest in barrel, 3 new barrels out of 11 equivalent. Much more concentrated crimson purple colour with a significant depth of fruit, mixed red berries with a slight softness but an appealing one. Very finely balanced on the palate with decent length Drink from 2029-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.
