"Immense!" Neal Martin, 96pts Clos de Tart 2006 at HK$3,600 per bottle

"Immense!" Neal Martin, 96pts Clos de Tart 2006 at HK$3,600 per bottle

A 7.5 hectare monopole Grand Cru sandwiched between Morey-St-Denis and Bonnes Mares, Clos de Tart is a name that you should always keep on your radar and one that we always take time to make a visit whenever in Burgundy.

Previously owned by the Mommessin family and sold to Francois Pinault (Owner of Chateau Latour) in 2017, Clos de Tart has emerged as one of the truly greatest wines of Burgundy. This is the largest monopole vineyard classified as Grand Cru in Burgundy, it has never been split up and is a top Grand Cru that is built for long array of aging. Burgundy expert Clive Coates described Clos de Tart as full and the most masculine of the Morey-St-Denis Grand Crus”, with very detailed comments of this great cru - “Clos de Tart has a typically Morey character, bigger than Musigny and Les Amoureuses, not as full-structured as Chambertin. Alongside its neighbours the wine has the backbone of Bonnes-Mares and the lushness of Clos de la Roche, but not the soft centre of Clos des Lambrays and Clos Saint-Denis. There is plenty of wine here, and it keeps well. This is a first-class estate producing one of the very best of Burgundy's Grand Cru wines.”

We are delighted to offer a well-priced Clos de Tart from 2006 which has been rated a stunning 96pts by Neal Martin who described as” upfront fruit, muscular, forthright tannin and enormous depth on the finish that fans out gloriously”. If you place an order before 15th July, you will enjoy a discounted offer at HK$3,680 per bottle -

96pts Neal Martin
Tasted at the pre-dinner vertical to mark Sylvain Pitiot's retirement from the domaine, the 2006 Clos de Tart Grand Cru has a deep, intense nose with plenty of dark berry fruit (blackberry and boysenberry), mixed with cedar and licorice scents. Saturnine at first, it responds to aeration, opening up with minimal encouragement and gaining more and more intensity. The palate is what you might call a bold and brassy style of Clos de Tart - upfront fruit, muscular, forthright tannin and enormous depth on the finish that fans out gloriously. Think of a blast of trumpets in the Albert Hall and you've got this wine. Immense!
